We are passionate about helping people achieve their driving goals. DARE is a fully accredited Registered Training Organisation) (RTO) offering training to become a:

• Driving instructor
• Driving assessor
• Heavy vehicle driver

Our flexible training schedule runs continuously.

Operating since 1998, we are a National Registered Training Organisation (RTO 90431) accredited by ASQA and Transport for NSW to deliver and assess vocational education for drivers and driving instructors.

Minimum requirements to become a driving instructor

Transport for NSW must approve all applicants for Driver Instructor training. Essential requirements and steps mean you must:

Have held a current, unrestricted Australian driver licence for at least 3 years
Be a minimum age of 21 years
Have a Working With Children Check (WWCC) number
Have medical and optometrist’s reports
Apply for a police check
Enrol in an approved training course (as DARE offers)
Pass the final assessment

Qualifications for Driving Instructors

TLI41221 Certificate IV in Transport and Logistics (Road Transport – Car Driving Instruction)

TLI41321 Certificate IV in Transport and Logistics (Road Transport – Heavy Vehicle Driving Instruction)

Under HVCBA, some trainers and assessors aligned with DARE as their RTO can deliver and assess the following Units of Competency (UoC) for you to obtain a heavy vehicle driver licence.

TLILIC2014 Licence to drive a light rigid vehicle.
TLIC2002 Drive light rigid vehicle
TLILIC2015 Licence to drive a medium rigid vehicle
TLIC3003 Drive medium rigid vehicle
TLILIC2016 Licence to drive a heavy rigid vehicle

What’s it like to learn with DARE?

We’ve been training driver trainers throughout NSW since 1998. We regularly deliver courses in both class groups or as one-on-one tuition at a mutually agreeable time to suit you.

You receive directed, self-paced learning (homework), theory and all on-road practical work to enable you to obtain your NSW licence.

All DARE owners and teaching staff are current driving school operators with substantial active involvement within the Transport and Logistics industry. You’ll benefit from our first-hand experiences and teaching methods –and have a great time learning from the best.

We are a Transport for NSW accredited Course Provider for car and HV Driving Instructors
